Yoga came into my life as a way to stretch, get out of the house and try something new. I had no expectations or idea what I was getting into. My first impression was "I can’t believe a place like this exists."
Having been in a very negative and stressful environment for the last couple years this was like a dream. I started to notice a change in my energy about two weeks in, each class has been like a battery recharge, or release; emotional, physical, mental, whatever, for me feels like freedom. Learning to connect with myself and just let go has been an eye opening experience. After a month, yoga brought clarity to problem areas in my life that had to change right away. Through a daily practice, yoga has healed my body, mind and soul, opened old injuries - things I was told were permanent - and disposed of them like they were never there. Bonus, yoga has also helped to bring me out of my shell, chill my anxiety and allow peace. Showing up has proven that all things are possible when you take time to breathe, create space and just let go.
This workshop is about refining the sequence of postures that make up a Sun Salutation. Through breaking down these poses you will learn more about your practice, get stronger and be able to move more confidently through your flow classes. We’ll address any common concerns and have the chance to really look closely at poses that open fly too quickly in a class setting.
Tight hips and hamstrings are the result of lifestyle factors, whether from sedentary or athletically active ways. This leads to reduced flexibility, and strength, in the hip joints as well as pain and discomfort in knees, lower back and even shoulders. This workshop will examine tightness versus weakness of the hips and hamstrings and examine the interplay between them in movement. A hips and hamstrings asana practice, integrating both strength and mobility, will leave your body moving with greater ease and fluidity.
During this one hour workshop, each participant will leave with their own SCOBY, starter batch and information needed to start their own brew. They will also get to try samples of first and second fermentations with various flavours (ginger, strawberry, raspberry, grapefruit etc). Information will be provided on the history and benefits of kombucha. We will also demonstrate how to do the first and second fermentation. Snacks and social after for those who wish to stay.
Mediation is a very effective way to achieve deep relaxation of the body and the mind. It allows our body to restore and heal, and it also helps us cope with daily situations that otherwise deplete our energy. The benefits are vast and more and more doctors are recommending meditation to their patients as a proven technique to help create inner peace and wellness.
Our teacher training is for anyone who is looking to deepen and expand their yoga practice, live and learn in community, have tons of fun and become a 500 hour certified yoga teacher.
